The Choice That Changed Everything
I left early that morning, wearing my only decent suit.
Borrowed.
Pressed carefully.
My mother hugged me before I left.
“You’ll make it,” she whispered.
I believed her.
But as I walked toward the building, something stopped me.
A man.
Old.
Broken.
Struggling to breathe on the side of the road.
People passed him by.
Even others heading to the same interview.
“Don’t get involved,” someone said.
I looked at my watch.
7:40 AM.
